Quick FAQs: What is a DIY Fire Pit Kit?
Answering Common Questions About Our Most Popular Items
Gas fire pits are a great way to transform your outdoor space. These premium fire features add beauty and warmth to your backyard or patio and make a great focal point for both new designs and renovations. Today, we’re answering some of the most common questions about these products.
What Is a DIY Fire Pit Kit?
A do-it-yourself gas fire pit burner kit is a bundle of components designed to give you the basic pieces necessary to build your own gas fire pit. Our kits cover most of your component needs “from burner to valve,” meaning essential connections inside the fire pit enclosure.
Unlike wood fire pit kits, there’s more to consider when dealing with gas so our kits make it easier to get the components you’ll need. While there are additional components to consider when building a gas fire pit, our DIY kits will give you the essentials and allow you to customize anything else beyond that with your own add-ons. What Parts are Included in a DIY Fire Pit Kit?
Our DIY kits will vary based on a number of factors, but most kits will at least include the following items:
- A gas fire pit burner. Typically, this will be a stainless steel or brass component.
- A gas flex line. This will facilitate the connection between your burner and fuel source (like an in-ground natural gas line or propane tank).
- A shutoff valve and key. This will allow for simple control of the gas flow.
You will likely need additional components to complete your installation. More advanced ignition systems, additional flex lines, fire media and a fire pit pan may be necessary. Why Don’t Your Kits Include Paver Stones?
We don’t include paver stones in our kits because these are usually much more affordable for customers to source locally. Shipping large, heavy stone or masonry enclosures would quickly increase the cost of our kits. Your local masonry or landscaping store will be able to help you find the right materials to complete your build.
With that being said, we do sell enclosure kits to simplify the building process. These prefabricated structures can usually be purchased with or without a burner kit and components to simplify your design process. While you’ll still need to finish the build with stone, tile or another finishing material, these ready-to-finish enclosures take some of the guesswork out of your design.
How Do I install My DIY Fire Pit Kit?
DIY kits from Fire Pits Direct will include basic instructions on how to install your fire pit. However, be sure you’ve done your homework to ensure you’ve taken care of all prerequisites for installation, including reading the entire owner's manual.
The physical installation process is quite simple, but be sure to follow all local codes and guidelines to ensure a safe installation. When in doubt, hire a professional.
