HPC Fire Propane (LP) Air Mixer Conversion Kits is designed to provide a necessary gas fire pit component for propane gas. The brass orifice features two 1/2 Inch male NPT threaded connections and is drilled for your specified BTU. If selected to make into a kit, the included 1/2 Inch coupler and nipple are made from 304 stainless steel to ensure long lasting quality and are designed to extend the air mixer a few inches away from the burner. The kit includes (1) orifice, (1) coupler, and (1) nipple.

I appreciate that Fire Pits Direct offers this well made solid brass air mixer in different BTU sizes to properly match the fire ring you are using. Other companies don't do this and only offer one smaller size. A fire ring with a too small mis-matched air mixer will have a too low flame height. In my case this 300KBTU unit produced the perfect smoke-free flame height for my 30" fire ring. I also appreciated that a 1/2"NP stainless and coupler came with it.

Air mixer should be sold with the hardware that is bought separate from the pan. How many separate items should be needed to get a propane fire pit working correctly.At least it should be told to customers online that this item is need

Did what it was supposed to do, from the standpoint that it eliminated the soot-creating black smoke at the burner. However, there appeared to be a significant amount of propane that also leaked out through the holes in the mixer. That propane was ignited once the fire from the pit got close enough. I removed the air mixer and am back to an installation without it. I'd rather have to clean soot off the fire glass periodically.To reiterate... it eliminated the soot-causing smoke from incompletely-burned propane, but it's not worth the risk due to propane leaking from the holes in the mixer. It's frustrating that it didn't work better, as it would have saved us some clean-up effort every couple weeks.
